When 12yr old Maya Rivera finds an old broken microphone that turns into a magic instrument and bestows her with the gift of rhyming, her super-powered rap flows help her to overcome all the family, social and societal challenges of a young teen raised by a single father. Keeping the golden microphone a secret, Maya starts to get everything she ever wanted. She is suddenly seen as a cool kid at school, gains the respect of her older sister and her dad finally has something that pulls him out of the depression of loosing their mother to cancer.
